Synopsis:

Founded in 1925 by a group of volunteers, the National Council of Jewish Women, El Nido – “the nest” in Spanish – provided counseling services to girls. Times change and the problems people face change. For more than 80 years, Los Angeles has been able to turn to El Nido Family Centers for help. The Narra Group profiled several different people – clients, community members, and volunteers – who make up El Nido. The clip features Diane Morales-Kawakami, a recovering drug addict and alcoholic who was court ordered to receive counseling if she wanted to regain custody of her kids. We spent a day with Diane, her family and her El Nido counselor to understand how El Nido saved her life.
